If you already have a game account, you can view the new cutscene on \ [dynamiclink href="https://(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctinzYlnMCA)!"] - We’ve cleaned up even more of the UI in the game, including the mission complete screen, level up/prestige screen, and battle end and SP screens. - Added a tutorial hint for early level players on unit deployment/movement during the battle setup phase if there are no interactions occurring - Mission shortcut button added for unit training objectives. Additionally, using a mission shortcut button when not at your home base will now take you to your home base to try and complete the objective. Changes - Reduced unit promotion timers by a factor of 4, removed bars and laurels from promotion costs, and halved the remaining costs for promotions for the Trooper, Shock Trooper, Arsonist, Imperial Dragoon, Gunner, Mortar Team, Hunter, Flame Trooper, Heavy Grenadier, and Riot Trooper - Increased Trooper base damage by 20% - Increased Arsonist base damage on the Molotov Cocktail attack by 25% - Increased Shock Trooper Controlled Burst ability crit rate to 30% - Gunner now gains 10 HP per rank and uses precise line of fire - Hunter damage scaling increased to 10% per rank and range increased to 4 for all abilities - Flame Trooper, Salamander, and Firedrake spray flame ability now has a 100% Fire DoT chance - Riot Trooper shotgun damage increased by 50% and gains an additional 5 armor per rank - Imperial Dragoon damage increased by 50%. v4.17.6 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

New Features - Most construction and job missions now have shortcut buttons to jump you to the relevant item in the menu or shop view. - New UI polish has been implemented for language selection, sign-in, set username, account linking, and other account-related UIs. - Tutorial dialog during battles has been restored. This should help provide a smoother experience during several battles where there should’ve been hint dialogs to provide more context/guidance. Changes - First launch of the game in a fresh installation now automatically logs in as an anonymous user to further smooth the onboarding process. Username selection now occurs after the tutorial is completed. Existing players should not hit this unless you reinstall the app on mobile and will have to sign out after the tutorial battle ends to log into their existing account. - UI has been simplified during the tutorial battle and missions to hide most extraneous features until the tutorial is complete. - UI pop-ups are now queued so they do not all appear simultaneously. This should reduce the overwhelming amount of dialogs that can occur at the beginning of the game when missions are starting/completing during a player level up and help resolve some bugs around mission dialogs getting silently dismissed. - Jobs and constructions can now be collected from their in-progress context menus instead of having to dismiss the context menu to collect from the base view - Attempting to start a second expansion or upgrade now provides a button to jump directly to the one in progress, replacing the previous modal that prompted users to hurry without any action buttons. Bug Fixes - Fixed issues with some mission dialogs and cutscenes not playing - Fixed a couple of missions that should’ve had tutorial arrows pointing to help guide players on what to do

v4.17.3

Battle Nations ·

New Features - Basic emotes are now live! Taunt your enemies or vulnerably express your emotions after a series of “strategic” mistakes. - New settings and mail UIs are now live. These mark the first of our UI rework, with more on the way! Changes - Profile picture selection is now skipped during initial account creation for a smoother flow. You can still change your profile picture once you reach your base - You can now tap on resource nodes in unexpanded territory to view the node type and hint text - Expansions in progress now cycle between expanded and unexpanded shading and have more workers on them to help differentiate between expanded and unexpanded regions - Move mode text now changes based on whether you need to select a building or if you are in the process of moving it - The confirm button for buildings in move mode is now greyed out when a building is in an invalid location to make it clearer when you can click it Balance Changes This update brings our first wave of changes to help smooth out the early game for new players. There’s still more to come, but this tranche focuses on early missions: - Reduced expansion times for the first 10 expansions - Reduced Toolshop build time to 5 minutes - Reduced Ancient Artifact build time to 1 hour - Reduced Dragonfruit Orchard build time to 2 hours - Reduced Trooper rank 1 -> 2 promotion timer to 15 minutes - Reduced Logging Camp gold cost to 2250 and changed both normal and advanced logging camps to unlock at level 7 - Reduced Hospital build time to 15 minutes - Updated the Silver Wolf mission encounter from mission “Frontier Justice” to use actual Silver Wolf units instead of stand-in rebel units - Mission “Tools of the Trade” now requires a noisy chainsaw instead of a jackhammer - Mission “Birds of Prey - Part 7” no longer requires a raptor cutlet - Mission “We Can Do It!” now only requires 2 noisy chainsaws, 1 jackhammer, and 1 arc welder - Mission “Boar-B-Cue” now only requires 1 spiral cut honey boar and 1 90% boar-meat hotdogs - Mission “Time to Get Wood” moved to start at level 7 and now rewards 500 stone and 1200 XP upon completion - Mission “Warehouse? There House” XP rewards increased to 1250. - Missions “Time to Get Wood” and “Warehouse? There House” now complete upon building creation rather than completion - Mission “Baked Goods” now starts after “Build a Bakery”. Some users may get this mission even at higher levels since this mission originally was gated off by another chain that doesn’t start - Mission “Move Along” removed, and rewards reallocated to mission “Baked Goods” - Mission “Everybody Must Get Stone” now starts at level 6 - Mission “Tools for Zoey” now only requires a new custom toolkit mission item - Mission “Leaving the Stone Age - Part 1” removed with rewards from part 1 reallocated to part 2 - Mission “Leaving the Stone Age - Part 2” renamed to “Leaving the Stone Age” - Mission “The Lonesome West” now rewards 125 stone on top of existing rewards - Missions “Porcine Pugilist”, “Birds of Prey - Part 1”, and “Renewable Raiders” now instantly spawn all required encounters - Mission “You’re Gonna be Popular” now rewards 5 merits on top of existing rewards Bug Fixes - Fight again button should now appear for raids after resuming from a PvP battle. Note that layouts are still not remembered yet. This will be fixed in a future update - Unit stats screens will be closed when a battle ends rather than staying open - Friendly PvP invites sent simultaneously between players will automatically accept the invite rather than have both players stuck on the accept countdown screen with a PvP notification - Fixed small sliver of health/armor bar that would remain even when a unit had 0 of it

v4.17.2 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

Bug Fixes - Fixed issue where the selected ability index was not cleared when switching between units - Fixed issue for smaller screens that would cause battle abilities to be squished together

v4.17.1 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

After a battle completes the setup phase and enters the battle phase, you’ll see an eye icon appear where the challenge button normally lives, allowing you to watch the battle unfold live. Changes - Friendly Battles just got bigger! Field up to 13 units (12 if you are going first) as you fight for glory on the battlefield. - Battle setup phase timer has been increased to 90 seconds Bug Fixes - PvP in-game notification should display the correct player level now - PvP in-game notification no longer incorrectly indicates that an in-progress battle will be paused when the battle is already in the completed phase - Fixed issue when a PvP in-game notification is accepted while moving a building - Fixed issue where battle grid highlighting would incorrectly persist when inspecting enemy units - Significantly optimized performance loading the build menu and barracks UIs - Fixed issue where mission dialog would be cancelled after a loading screen - Fixed issue where some tutorial mission elements were missing

v4.17.0 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

New Features - Friendly PvP is here! Challenge your friends and guildmates and fight for the most important resource: bragging rights! - Please note that in an effort to get this shipped out earlier, we’ve elected to ship it as bare-bones as possible. Balancing, modes, and other general polish will come as we continue building towards random matchmaking-based PvP. - In the meantime, enjoy a standard, unrestricted friendly PvP battle with seven units per side, while the player going second receives an eighth unit to help offset the first-turn advantage. We will be experimenting with options to negate the first turn advantage, but we’re starting with a simple tactic in an effort to ship faster. - In both friendly PvP and the upcoming random matchmaking PvP, units that die do not go to the hospital, nor do armies go into cooldown after battle, so bring your best forces and don’t be afraid to take risks as you fight for victory. - Friendly PvP battles will not feature rewards, but you can use them to start preparing tactics for random matchmaking PvP where rewards will be on the table. Initiate battle invitations through your friends and guild menus, or look out for invites from your allies in the PvP menu or from in-game notifications. If you are in a PvE battle and join a PvP battle, your battle progress will not be lost, and you will be dropped right back where you were after the PvP battle has concluded, so don’t leave your allies hanging; that spiderwasp army you’ve been decimating will still be there when you get back. Bug Fixes - Ensure sign-out is never called on error recovery paths to reduce the chances of anonymous accounts from being signed out inadvertently

v4.16.1 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

Bug Fixes - Fixed an issue where players could not sell certain decorations on their base - Fixed an issue where mail notification icons would display an unread count even though the mail was already read - Fixed an issue where tapping the population button rapidly would open many instances of the menu - Fixed an issue where encounters were still highlighted in red after the mission they were part of was already complete

v4.16.0 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

New Features - You can now log in with Apple or Google accounts in addition to email. If you have an existing account that was created with an email, you can link these social providers on MadronaID and sign in with them. If you sign in with a social login that matches your existing email-based account, it will automatically link them. - We’ve implemented an anonymous login method to make it easier to hop into the game as a new player. At any time, you can link your anonymous account to a login method through the game settings. We highly recommend linking a login method to your anonymous account to ensure your game account does not get lost. Changes - This update is the culmination of a massive overhaul of our backend systems. Over 100k lines of code were rewritten during this effort to fix several core architectural issues that we’ve noticed as we’ve grown, enabling us to prepare our systems to scale to a wider audience and, more importantly, lay the foundation for the numerous new features we’ve been cooking up. While this update is a massive win on the development side, we want to preface that on the player side, this update takes shape more as a bugfix/optimization update and should not have any major functional changes. That being said, please be sure to open a bug report if you are seeing any weird issues around connecting/staying connected to the server. - One unfortunate tradeoff we had to make due to this architectural shift was disabling the ability to interact with friend bases when the friend is online. You’ll still be able to visit bases that are online, just not assist or fight their encounters, and you’ll have the usual options available when they’re offline. Given that our position is that the whole assist system needs an overhaul and the level of effort that would’ve been required to implement a system to keep the base in sync with live external interactions, we felt that this was a worthwhile tradeoff for the time being to focus on delivering the features and content you have been looking forward to. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. - Previously, in the stats info panels for units, abilities that could stun would indicate their duration to be 1 turn longer than they actually were. This has now been corrected for clarity, and the change has no gameplay impact - We’ve updated a few more buildings with redrawn art as part of our ongoing effort to modernize the assets Bug Fixes - Fixed enemy units sometimes displaying incorrect cooldowns on weapons - Fixed prep time issues on several units, such as the Mammoth Artillery's second attack - Spawn-on-death units now respect prep time - Fixed issues with freeze and ammo reload not pausing accordingly - Fixed an issue that incorrectly ignored global cooldown, causing some abilities to be used too frequently - Fixed issues with some buttons being unresponsive - Fixed an issue where selecting an ability while animations are running would become deselected when it becomes your turn again - Engine update to fix a crash that would occur on Windows - Improved error handling during app startup to reduce the chance of getting stuck on loading screens - Fixed issue where defense coverage would disappear when zooming to certain levels - Fixed issue where intro cutscene wouldn’t play after signing out and creating a new account - Fixed an issue that would cause some new missions on the mission screen to take a few seconds to start after tapping on them - Fixed an issue when viewing guild UI from a mail link - Fixed a localization issue for a countdown timer in guild UI modals

v4.15.6 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

Bug Fixes - Better handling of poor network quality impacting battle handshaking, which previously resulted in hangs and forced app restarts. Now the game should automatically resync itself to allow the battle to resume on its own without needing an app restart

v4.15.5 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

- Fixed the camera zooming out after battle issue - Fixed accidental collections/button presses that could occur when panning/zooming - Fixed an input hang issue that could occur in battle and prevent interacting with units/attacks

v4.15.1 - 4.15.4 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

v4.15.1 - 4.15.4 Release Notes Changes - Did a pass over most of the new art added in the v4.15.0 patch. Focused on adding wear & tear to better capture the original Battle Nations feel - Zoom is now more granular when using a scroll wheel - Minor tweaks to the heart and wings insignia icons - Portable Electric Fence is now trainable at level 65 - Melee Sentinel Fragment now uses the previously unreleased attack animation for the “Pulverize” attack Bug Fixes - Fixed monitor selection issues in settings for desktop platforms. Users with identical monitors should now be able to select each one rather than only one instance - Added user ban messages to the sign-in flow - Ensure XP bar visually fills when in prestige mode. Previously, it would incorrectly display a percentage of the XP required to the next level and (correctly) reset once hitting the 200k XP required to prestige. Now it will actually fill the XP bar when hitting 200k XP, so it isn’t visually misleading. - Fixed various input actions taking effect on the map view when certain UI elements are open - Fixed Ancient Sentinel weapon names being flipped - Fixed typo from “Speciment” to “Specimen”

v4.15.0 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

New Features - Level 65 is here with new units, buildings, missions, and more! Once you reach level 65, you’ll start earning prestige again. Note: current XP gained towards prestige will carry over to advancing your level. - It’s time to put your graphic design skills to the test. Initial guild icon customization is now live! Get creative, hoist your new insignia, and strike fear into the hearts of your rivals. - The Ridgy-Didge is now available to fight as a repeatable boss! Apparently, Bogan’s “Emperor” sandworm wasn’t exactly the top of the food chain, seeing as its *meaner* cousin is back for revenge. Slay the Ridgy-Didge to claim its razor-sharp teeth and the skulls of its bygone lunches. You might even pacify one of its adult worm henchmen and use it to fight for the glory of the Empire! Also, to let Floyd study it for research or something. That'd be nice too. Keep an eye out for it every week at Bogan’s House. - Our artist Reed has spent much of the past year updating many of the early game art assets to look sharper on high-resolution screens while preserving the classic BN style. The initial focus has been on buildings, especially early-level content. Along the way, we have also added improvements like seamless grass, increased zoom, and some enhancements to raider buildings to boost the visual quality of early NPC maps. There is still more work ahead, but we have reached a solid milestone and are excited to finally share these assets while continuing on with further levels. Changes - We have made significant improvements to memory management in Battle Nations. Most memory leaks have been identified and fixed, and we’ve optimized away high allocation patterns. As a result, we’ve lowered the minimum RAM requirements for preloading assets to 2GB, down from 4GB. Additionally, longer play sessions should result in less frequent OOM crashes, and memory-constrained devices should be less likely to enter low memory mode. As a reminder, if the OS sends the game a low memory warning, the game will stop preloading assets to avoid being killed by the OS, and thus your load times will increase. If this happens and your device has more than 2GB of RAM, we recommend closing other background apps and then restarting the game. - We’ve lowered all naval units that previously had a player level 66 unit rank prerequisite to a player level 65 unit rank prerequisite. - Solar Power Plant has undergone extensive renovations. Bug Fixes - Fixed issue with environmental DOT causing spawn on death units not to spawn in certain situations. - Updated engine to fix a couple of different high-volume crashes on Windows systems. - Updated Steam SDK to try resolving hanging issues seen on some Windows systems. - Improved handling of network errors during battle. - Fixed the garrison range issue that would cause garrisons to not deploy on some maps, like New Haven. - Fixed an issue that would occur if a player equipped abilities on a unit that was preplaced in a battle. Previously, the attacks would be preset and would not work, but now they will use the ones the player equipped.

v4.14.5 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

Changes - Nomad Elemental Rover is now trainable in the Vehicle Factory - All Nomad Elemental Rover Rank Upgrade timers set to 2 hours - Nomad Elemental Rover healing time set to 4 hours Bug Fixes - Fixed an issue with the client not realizing a battle has ended when the enemy passes, and then the last player-side unit dies to environmental DoT - Fixed R3 Skyraptor still showing a level prereq lock

v4.14.4 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

Bug Fixes - Fix issue with collecting building upgrades on certain device types - Fixed Chinese localization issue for Boss Strike 2 description

v4.14.3 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

Changes - BC-3 Cobra Rank 7 Player Level Prereq has been removed - Thresher Tank Rank 7 Player Level Prereq has been removed - UH-1B SkyRaptor Rank 2 and 3 upgrades have had their upgrade times lowered to 2 minutes, and the player level prereqs have been removed - The game no longer preloads all assets at initial launch to help improve memory usage. This may increase load times when interacting with various parts of the game for the first time. However, for devices with more than 4 GB of RAM, loaded assets will remain loaded, so future interactions do not have the same loading penalty. Devices with less than 4GB of RAM will always unload assets to ensure the game is not killed by the operating system for overusing RAM. If the operating system signals a low memory event, the game will always unload assets until it is relaunched. This should help improve compatibility with lower spec devices while minimizing impact on high-end devices. Please let us know if you notice any abnormalities resulting from this change. Bug Fixes - Fixed DOT damage bypassing armor when a unit is stunned - Fixed inconsistency between client and server for cooldowns on stunned units - Increased the strictness of prereq checks when constructing a new building - Fixed some enemy tiles being untappable when using the inspect tool - Fixed issues with raiding defenses at New Haven and other NPC maps. You should be able to attack from any side, rather than only the diagonals, to trigger defenses like garrisons.

v4.14.1 Release Notes

Battle Nations ·

New Features - Added a unit favorites tab. Hit the star icon in the top left corner of the unit icon in the unit info panel to add it to your favorites list. Please note that the favorite lists are not currently cloud synced and are specific to your device. Cloud sync for favorites lists will come in a future update. Bug Fixes - Fixed units not having cold immunity - Fixed certain conditions that would cause the client to incorrectly show prestige earned when leveling up to level 56 when no prestige was actually earned - Fixed NPC portrait in level-up UI only having Morgan - Fixed hang when scrolling through unit abilities when a unit had 6 or more abilities - Fixed client-server disagreements causing issues when deciding whether a raid would pull in defenses on NPC maps. This should help reduce issues seen in New Haven, where raids were not always draining garrisons despite the client highlighting them as in-range. - Fixed buildings not saving rotation if their position was not changed - Fixed various desyncs that could occur after signing out and signing into a new account without relaunching the game
